BBQ Food in Kansas City

BBQ
Barbecue is without a doubt the most well known food of Kansas City, with a huge variety of restaurants to choose from. The ‘Kansas City Barbecue’ refers to a style of barbecue that has evolved there since the early 1900s. Since then almost 100 different barbecue restaurants have developed, as well as a number of barbecue cooking contests held in the area.

One place worth a visit is Arthur Bryant’s, a descendant of the original restaurant started by Henry Perry, which has developed into a number of different locations around Kansas City. The restaurant offers a great-tasting sauce adapted slightly from the Henry Perry original. The great flavor attracted a host of diners including Presidents Harry Truman and Jimmy Carter and several celebrities along the way. This same sauce is still used and enjoyed by diners today, allowing you to experience the authentic taste of Arthur Bryant’s secret recipe.

Other great BBQ joints in the area include Fiorella’s Jack Stack Barbecue where you can buy Denver lamb ribs and choose from an enormous variety of wines; Gates Bar-B-Q which offers a great barbecue sauce flavour, or Oklahoma Joe’s where you can try the Carolina pork sandwich.
